History:

About:

Don't Forget the Bard! is a gamebook (interactive fiction) that was inspired by Edward from Final Fantasy 2. Edward appears in the game for a short time and is one of the most useless characters. He is weak, runs away, and can't even sing without his harp, but if you stick with him long enough, he eventually learns to turn the entire enemy party into a bunch of frogs. When his skills do work, they are helpful and unique, and his flaws actually make him a more interesting character. I thought about what a game would be like if he were the main character and that inspired me to write this gamebook.

Characters:

Altros: A giant octopus that terrorizes the open seas.

Big Anfroy: A legendary beast that lives in Dickenburg's moat.

Daryn: The king's guard.

Lord Archer: He is your father, but does not appear in the game.

Lord Dickenburg: The king dies before the game starts and this is the impetus for the adventure.

Lord Baston: A playboy that has shut himself in at The House of Ill Repute.

Lord Baston II: Lord Baston's son.

Lord Faust: Ruler of the northern kingdom.

Mary: A whore from The House of Ill Repute.

Mermaid: A mermaid lives in the sea and causes trouble for those who sail in and out of Dickenburg.

Reverse Mermaid: This mythical beast lives in Dickenburg's moat.

Witch: The witch lives close to the forest and tries to seduce the various passersby.

Woodcutter: An axeman that plagues the woods.

Comments

Is this game out yet where do I get

Okay, so I have 3 questions/comments about this.

1) You mentioned spoilers of the different endings, does that no longer apply since it became a gamebook?

2) Is there anywhere else I can get the gamebook? Google Playstore or Steam perhaps?(preferably the former)

3) Following off the second question, can I just mention how much I enjoyed the version on Newgrounds? I think you're a seriously talented writer, and even though I read somewhere on your profile that the sequel won't look anything like this game; if you ever do find yourself making more interactive literature I would like to suggest a site:

https://forum.choiceofgames.com

It specializes in authors who create interactive stories where the reader can make choices. Games like this one would be sold in app stores, and you would get much more financial support for your effort. They even provide their own coding for writers to use, you should check it out :)

Anyways, great game and I look forward to the sequel. Thank you for your time.

I actually forgot that I never updated the FAQ. I meant to, but wanted to wait until people had a chance to go through it themselves. I could do it if people are really interested.

The gamebook is currently exclusive on Amazon. When the exclusivity period expires, it might go to more places. The gamebook is different because stats and inventory have been removed. I can't remember the other changes, but some things have been added and removed.

I used to publish to more platforms but gave up after low sales and all of the trouble that porting took. Thanks for your support. It helps the most when people buy the ebook through Amazon because Amazon will recommend my books to customers who bought similar books.
