Hey guys,

A few updates on what I'm currently working on. The next title that will probably pop up is Good Little *NEET. It will be pretty short. Maybe 30 minutes to an hour. There are several endings and it will be available online and on mobile. I'm still a bit conflicted on the plot details and will need to do another rewrite, but the script is mostly finished.

In Daitama-ken, Japan, a group of neighbors are terrorized by a serial killer who targets female victims in the late hours of the night. After one of their neighbors is murdered in front of their building, the NEET of their group begins spending his days investigating the crime himself -- only to find that the killer is far more psychotic than any of them could have imagined.

Can you help Yasuhide to solve the crimes -- or will you lead him to his death in the process?

* NEET - not in employment, education, or training

Hey guys,

I have a new game up and it's out of judgment. It's not really a game -- more like a movie with clickable text.

Past the Suicide Tree

It just takes a few minutes to play through, so I hope people give it a few clicks and let me know what they thought.

Thanks!

Hey guys!

So, Don't Forget the Bard! didn't place in the best of November on Newgrounds. It did get #17 as a runner up. I'm glad I was at least mentioned in the post, but disappointed that I didn't place in the top 5 for games. I wonder if submitting at the beginning of the month would have given me a better chance.

Hey guys!

So, I have a working version of Don't Forget the Bard! on HTML5. This means that you can play it on your phone now! The problem is that the text is pretty small on mobile and not easy to click on. Also, some text seems to display a bit higher than the corresponding hotspots, so I'll have to go in and fix that. This means changing hotspots in 100 scenes or more and might cause me to break other stuff, too, so it's a little risky.

Anyway, if you're using a small screen, it might be kind of a pain, but I'm sure people will let me know ... This game is really meant to be played on a computer.

Hey guys!

Plays/views and ratings have continued to climb for Don't Forget the Bard! I'm anticipating 3.5/5 and 10,000 plays by the end of the year. Thanks for making it happen!

Updates:

  1. The final cover art is in! Looks great. Let me know what you think.
  2. Text updated. I think it matches the art better.
  3. Also, the game will ask you to share it on Facebook and Twitter by using the Newgrounds' buttons after you've completed five adventures. I don't think it's much of a nag, but I'll be listening to player feedback.

Hey fans and all,

Version 1.2 of Don't Forget the Bard is up. Updates include:

- Skills now improve as you complete related tasks
- Some achievements are included
- If your endurance reaches 0, your game will now end

Hopefully, I am not in there breaking things. If you see something weird, please let me know. Unless there are other bugs that need to be fixed, the next update will be major (version 2.0).

Again, THANK YOU!

Hey guys!

You may have noticed that Don't Forget the Bard got frontpaged by Newgrounds. Now it has two trophies! I've never gotten frontpaged before, so that was really exciting. Thanks for the high ratings and making it happen!

I'm working on version 1.2 right now. I'll try to upload it Sunday. The medals are complicated and a lot of tracking by scene/page is involved, so it's taking longer than I thought. In the update, some medals should start showing up. Also, if your endurance runs down to 0, your adventure will end... So, no more food freebies.

Hey guys! So far the beta for Don't Forget the Bard! has been going swimmingly. We're at about 3.5/5 right now and hotdogtopus has added a few fans. The game has also generated more views for Unlikable Us.

There was a hiccup with accessing the shopping screen. I think it's fixed, but it needs more testing. There was also a problem with the choice for scribing for the pirates. This has been fixed.

Thanks!

History:

About:

Don't Forget the Bard! is a gamebook (interactive fiction) that was inspired by Edward from Final Fantasy 2. Edward appears in the game for a short time and is one of the most useless characters. He is weak, runs away, and can't even sing without his harp, but if you stick with him long enough, he eventually learns to turn the entire enemy party into a bunch of frogs. When his skills do work, they are helpful and unique, and his flaws actually make him a more interesting character. I thought about what a game would be like if he were the main character and that inspired me to write this gamebook.

Characters:

Altros: A giant octopus that terrorizes the open seas.

Big Anfroy: A legendary beast that lives in Dickenburg's moat.

Daryn: The king's guard.

Lord Archer: He is your father, but does not appear in the game.

Lord Dickenburg: The king dies before the game starts and this is the impetus for the adventure.

Lord Baston: A playboy that has shut himself in at The House of Ill Repute.

Lord Baston II: Lord Baston's son.

Lord Faust: Ruler of the northern kingdom.

Mary: A whore from The House of Ill Repute.

Mermaid: A mermaid lives in the sea and causes trouble for those who sail in and out of Dickenburg.

Reverse Mermaid: This mythical beast lives in Dickenburg's moat.

Witch: The witch lives close to the forest and tries to seduce the various passersby.

Woodcutter: An axeman that plagues the woods.

Inventory:

apple – restores 1 endurance point

bard's clothes (starting inventory)

beggar's clothes (starting inventory)

cheese - restores 2 endurance points

fishing pack – allows you to fish in the moat

mutton – restores 3 endurance points

ring – a mysterious artifact

sultanas – a gift for

bottle of water – restores all endurance points (not ordinary water)

key – unlocks the a metal collar

Skills:

Combat Powers (25 points max): Fighting, fencing, and other physical strength

Bard Powers (25 points max): Singing, intuition, and other mysterious powers

Charisma (10 points max): Make friends and influence others

Composure (10 points max): Control yourself under duress

Lore (10 points max): A little knowledge goes a long way in these lands

Endings:

These spoilers will be posted soon. There are about 15,000 words and dozens of endings in this game.

Medals:

These will be posted after beta testing finishes.

Strategy:

The most important skills are combat and bard powers. Lore is the least used skill. In order to complete all paths, a combination of different skills are needed.

FAQ:

Q: Where can you play this game?

A: Click here to play the online game here on Newgrounds.
